As I am the PC tech in the family I need to upgrade from time to time. Now is the time for such an upgrade. I feel that I need to be as careful as I can so as not to waste money on upgrades that are not needed.
Now, I need to overall or replace the white desktop that we have been using since 2018. Maybe it was 2017. The motherboard is damaged and it is running only 4 gigs of dd3 ram. The GPU is very good a GTX 780ti.
I am thinking of modernizing Yogits's PC upgrading my GPU and passing on Yogita's current rig to George to use instead of the white PC. The white PC would be taken apart and useful parts will be stored or used and the motherboard and case tossed out. The name of the game here is to do so in a cost-effective way. One option would be to leave Yogita's PC as is and install a water cooler on the CPU. Get a cheap but capable system with 8gigs of ddr4 ram (ill upgrade it later to 16gigs) system for around 150 to 200,000 won. I could then upgrade my GPU to a 1080ti. Finally, prices have dropped. The black PC NEEDS water cooling badly on its CPU and 2 8 gig ddr3 RAM chips.
I want to complete these upgrades over 2 weeks. However, I need to be able to save money while making sure that the upgrades work well. I am hoping that prices continue to fall as I am in the waiting and watching phase. Perhaps this Saturday I will visit a second PC shop and ask about prices. Ok, time to go!
