Recap on tech upgrades...

Our computer needs have never been this stable. Well, our desktops are in a very stable state. However, our portable systems need updating. We will buy 2 new gaming laptops. We will be getting high-end machines. Likely GTX 1060 or 1660 will be the GPUs we will use. We will be getting systems that can be upgraded to 32 gigs of ram.

Why this amount? Currently most gaming systems run with about 16 gigs. However, Yogita who has 16 gigs of DDR3 ram suffers from lag due to her system running low on memory. Games today can easily take up about 3 or even 4 gigs of ram. Many MMORPGs today it is best to have what we call an alt account. This account basically supports the main character. So now you are using about 50% of your available RAM. Now add to that you operating system and few internet tabs open at the same time... So yeah 32 gigs of ram (DDR4) will be a minimum we will need in those gaming laptops. Of course we will use them for work when needed.

Add to this I want to get upgraded 4th or 5th gen ipad pros. These can double as an office laptop as well. When we leave South Korea (if we do) it is likely we are going to be doing office work.

Apple products are really good in this regard. For our boys have plans for them as well. But likely I will purchase items (laptops, ipads, smart phones) in India.

My aim is to do all of this over time. Slowly, because rushing has always led to stress and problems later on. For example, I want to leave South Korea perhaps put in my notice. I do not want to have thrown over 4 million won at these upgrades when that time comes. Instead I might just purchase the items in India. In India I have so many more options than I do in South Korea.

Ok time to head home and enjoy this Wednesday evening!

Moving in South Korea

Yeah, that time is upon us again. This time, however, we are using the same style we started using back in 2016. Basically, we throw out stuff "bag and toss", or "bag and recycle" weeks before moving day. When moving is near our cleaning routines get tightened up. Meaning that our boys who clean very well clean one more time extra every couple of days. The apartment is cleaned daily of course.

The next step is to "bag" out of season clothes and place them in a central location. Finally, we empty all of the drawers of utensils and clean the empty cabinets. Then if we have to move at a later date we live out of our suitcases so to speak while constantly cleaning everything.

Finally, on the day of the move, usually, they pack our things very quickly, we do one more final cleaning. Settling in takes a while but this time we will not settle in. We will live very light because we do not what next year will bring. We might have to move quickly. If we do move again at that time things will be even easier.

Sometimes you have to let people know when enough is enough.

I had a special meeting with my boss's wife. You see they both basically run the business together. However, the curriculum is totally controlled by the wife. I have learned much about her "work" personality. Basically, she is cold and borderline rude, and in many situations just strange. In addition, she does not like it when a foreign teacher is more popular than she is. A very very strange situation. For 3 years I have never been treated so oddly. Students enjoy my classes, and there are many that look forward to my class. She once asked them why they were so excited.

Basically, I had to let her know that I was ready to walk. Once I did that in a respectful way her tone changed right away. I am now ready to leave Korea every month that passes. Or rather reset our working arrangments. They have a "rival" who is very keen to work with me. I say rival in this way because they are the only ones holding to whatever happened years ago. I need to let both my boss and his wife know it makes them look really bad in the community.

The community is very important for those living in this world. A world of spiritual darkness. In this world people chase money. So they need this "community" as people can spread rumors, or say things in such a way that can affect your name. This will lead to lower student enrollment.

I am not a part of this community. I associate with them, but I am not a part of them. I used to be a part of the ex-pat community years ago. It left Yogita and I in a bad way. Since we have focused on our family and a handful of close friends things have improved.

So sometimes you need to tell people no. Of course, we need to make sure our "yes means yes, and our no means no". This reduces arguments and stress later. These words were spoken by Jesus Christ when He walked the Earth. So I think I have shown them my boss and his wife that my yes means yes. I have not left in the middle of a contract. So I think they knew that I was serious when I said I am ready to walk.

So for now all is well.
