Yeah, it is now South Korea's turn. I hate to say this but this was bound to happen. With the delta variant of the virus, it did not spread like the omicron variant did. Likely, the first one just did not last as long on surfaces or in the air before becoming unable to cause infection.
Well, Koreans carried on like everything was normal. People traveled all over the country, and many met in large numbers. Of course, most were vaccinated. Due, to this most, are just resting at home to recover. This could have been the case for the USA. But, people there are stubborn. Here, in Iksan more than 10% have been confirmed as infected with the virus. This is a city of 300,000 where we are seeing numbers of 1500 to 2000 cases daily. So yeah likely it is more than 10% likely more than 15%. We had two teachers out last week. I feel that it is likely some are using this phase of the pandemic to take some time off.
I do not blame people for doing this. This country runs at a breakneck pace. So many things are o scripted that it is hard to really take a break.
Well, we are all fine at the moment. We have all come down with head colds. I have recovered. Yogita is having a more difficult time recovering, but she is on the mend.
Perhaps, next month we will finally venture out of Iksan. Visit friends, nice restaurants, or even some computer shops in Gunsan. I need to place some of my PC's in larger cases.
On a nice note, Yogita and I have found a way to enjoy our time without distractions. We go to a love motel. In South Korea near bus stations, train stations, and entertainment districts you can find large clusters of "love hotels". Yes, these are primarily used for "love". However, due to the pandemic groups of friends have used them as a place to safely hang out due to the curfews that were put in place.
Our plan started last year. We were talking about a way we could enjoy time after work on Saturday. You see the government set the curfew at 9pm last summer. In addition, we could not even go to parks. So Yogita suggested that we go to a restaurant at an earlier time. I hated the idea but agreed as long we could to go to a love motel. As I put it then lets the "party to the room". Actually, it was of our bonding as a married couple. We discussed all kinds of things. From our kids, money, the bible, this world we are living in, so many things. It was a blessing for us. It still is. We study the bible every week. I have noticed that when we started to do this, during our weekend "love motel" time we tend to talk more and more about what we study in the bible. I have found this very refreshing. The bible tells us that we should discuss spiritual matters even while we are on the road.
So, this week I look forward to our three Bible studies, and our discussions during the "love motel" time.
Actually, I have noticed that many other people are using motels for the same purpose. I have heard people singing, having birthday parties, or just hanging out. Once, they are tired they use the room to sleep comfortably. Of course, the original use of the rooms has not gone away of course.
Time to get this work part of the day started.
